Opinion

Genesis

HASI is starting to publish regularly, in Spanish and English, about what is actually happening in AI and what it means for Latino communities.

Most of what gets written about artificial intelligence is written in English, for people who already work in technology. That leaves out a lot of people. It leaves out families deciding whether an AI tool belongs in their household, workers whose jobs are being quietly reorganized around software they were never consulted about, and community organizations trying to answer questions their members are already asking.

This is where we will publish our own reading of what is happening.

What goes here

Two kinds of writing.

The first is opinion. When something happens that we think Latino communities should understand, we will say what we think it means and why. We will be clear about which parts are established fact and which parts are our judgment.

The second is a regular rundown of developments worth paying attention to. Not everything that gets announced matters. Our job is to say which things do.

How we work

Everything appears in Spanish and in English. Not a summary in one and the full piece in the other, the same piece in both. If a translation is not ready, the post waits.

We link out. When we describe something that happened, we point to where you can read the original and check it for yourself. We would rather you verify our reading than take it on faith.

We do not have a stake in any AI company. When we are uncertain, we will say so.
